KUCHING, Nov 30: A total of RM61.71 million has been disbursed for the implementation of 218 infrastructures projects by various local authorities.
“As of 3rd November 2022, RM61.71 million (47.02%) has been disbursed for 218 infrastructure projects such as road and drainage improvements, improvement of waterfronts, upgrading of markets.
“Provision of street lighting, traffic lights, public toilets, public libraries, town and landscape beautification and also rural facilities and amenities,” said Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian in his ministerial winding-up speech in DUN, here today.
Dr. Sim added Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) is one of the imperative Sarawak government initiatives in developing the rural areas by building public facilities and infrastructures for the rural community.
“Under this initiatives, local authorities under my Ministry was allocated with RM97.5 million in 2021 comprising of 716 projects and RM123.4 million in 2022 consisting of 830 projects,” he said.
“To date, 572 and 102 projects were completed in 2021 and 2022 respectively,” he added.
The balance of 144 and 728 projects for 2021 and 2022 are in various stages of implementation by various local authorities. – TVS
