KUCHING, Nov 25: The Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development through the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) is committed to provide an inclusive quality social services.
Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Rosey Yunus told the August House that as of 31 October 2022, the department has set up four satellite offices in Baram namely Long Kevok, Long Bedian, Long Jekitan, and Bario.
“The satellite offices provide services namely; Social Welfare Department (JKM) Member of Volunteer registration; Card registration for people with disabilities (OKU).
“Investigation for JKM’s assistance application; Kenyalang Gold Card registration and distribution and briefing of initiatives provided under the ministry and its department,” she said.
Rosey added the presence of these satellite offices will be continued next year (2023) to better serve the Baram community. At the same time, ensure that the community are not left behind in receiving any form of initiatives provided by the government.
Meanwhile, Baram Area recorded 622 birth rates, and out of the total, 324 or 52% have registered for the Endowment Fund Sarawak (EFS) account since 2019 until 31 October 2022.
Rosey noted that in January until 31 October 2022, 163 child were born and out of the total, 77 have registered for EFS account by the Sarawak National Registration Department in Baram.
“In 2021, 153 child were born and 64 have registered for EPS account while in 2020, out of the 178 children born, 112 have registered for EFS account,” she said this in response to Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau’s question regarding the registration of the Endowment fund in Baram during the state legislative assembly (DUN) Sitting here today.
Meanwhile, in 2019, 71 out of 128 children born have registered for EFS account.
As of October 2022, The National Registration Department has recorded 115,521 child born with K’status’ and of the total, 82,265 or 71% have registered for EFS account. – TVS
