KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10: Sarawak Government’s stupendous achievements was held in high esteem by caretaker Finance Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
In singing his praise, Zafrul said Sarawak managed to accomplish the achievements without sacrificing its good relationship with the Federal government.
“I’m very impressed with the Sarawak government as it has always been very focused and productive in discussions for the betterment of Sarawak,” he said in an exclusive interview with TVS.
He added, the Federal and the state governments under the leadership of Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg have resolved many issues such as the Petronas commercial settlement agreement and representatives in various government boards and agencies.
Under the Ministry of Finance (MOF), Zafrul remarked that its focus is on narrowing the development gap between Sarawak, Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.
“In the recent proposed Budget, we have increased the allocations to Sarawak and Sabah.
“As we all know, Sarawak is a state with great potential and its contribution to Malaysia is tremendous,” he said.
During the last proposed Budget tabling, Sarawak was set to receive RM5.4 billion in allocation, and increase of RM800 million from this year’s figure.
Zafrul added that the federal government’s focus is to help and support Sarawak’s economic growth. – TVS
