MUKAH, 5 Nov: Nomination day in P.213 Mukah parliamentary saw close to a thousand Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) party members marced across the town centre of Mukah in support of their candidate Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib.
Hanifah arrived at the Nomination Centre at Menara Pehin Setia Raja at about 8.36am followed by Parti Keadilan Sarawak’s (PKR) candidate Abdul Jalil Hassan.
The GPS candidate was accompanied by proposer Royston Valentine and seconder Abdul Yakub Arbi while, Jalil’s proposer and seconder are Abdul Halim Dee and Zulkipli @ Terawih Abdullah respectively.
Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah was also among the crowd of supporters during GPS’ parade to the nomination centre.
Mukah has a total of 46,964 registered voters for this upcoming 15th General Elections (GE15), from a total of 60,805 of its population.
During the previous general election, Hanifah won the seat with a majority of 7,000 votes, beating Jalil who received only 6,853 votes.
