KUCHING, Oct 11: A stable government can be a deal-breaker to welcome more international investments to the country.
To achieve this, Barisan Nasional (BN) would need an absolute majority, a strong mandate from the people in the upcoming 15th General Elections (GE15).
Universiti Malaya’s Centre for Democracy and Elections (UMCEDEL), Fellow Researcher Associate Professor Dr Awang Azman Pawi said the dissolution of parliament by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Monday has caused opposition into disarray.
“There are disagreements in ranks in Perikatan Nasional. This can also be seen when there’s a glaring disunity amongst Cabinet members.
“Therefore, the best way to solve this is by returning the mandate to the people, so that they can choose the party that they deem is worthy to lead the country,” said Awang.
He said the previous cabinet, which consisted of ministers from various parties was an experiment which has proved to be determent for when it comes to development projects and policy making.
Awang added this may directly affect the confidence of international investments in Malaysia.
And thus, by returning the mandate to the people, it serves as a response to accusations that were bombarded towards the caretaker government which was dubbed as a backdoor government.
“BN has used this narrative to criticisms made by Pakatan Harapan in the past.
“Hence, the people should take GE15 as a golden opportunity for them to choose it new ruling government, who will be able to champion their needs in the very near future.” Awang added. – TVS
