KUCHING, 1 Sept: More than 185 unique events spread across 34 different locations in the city await visitors at What About Kuching (WAK) festival throughout the month of October.
Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman said the event is another major activity lined up for the month of October.
“October used to be a slow month for us,” he said at WAK 2022 Calendar Reveal at the Old Court House today.
“This will surely enliven the whole month,” he said, adding that it will complement other events such as the International Dragon Boat Race and Kuching Jazz Festival.
“This is one event I believe can grow into something big and which will put Kuching into the global calendar,” he added.
Karim, who is also the Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, also said the event provides a platform for youths to express their skills and creativity.
“Our youths are very talented and very unique. If we don’t tap into it, it will be such a waste.”
With activities such as outdoor movie screening, knitting installation and immersive theatre, WAK 2022 is targeting to achieve a 300,000 footfall in audience attendance this year. – TVS
