KUCHING, July 19 : A 44-year-old woman who was riding pillion on a motorcycle died from her injuries after her motorcycle rammed into a stationary compact car along Jalan Bako at 8.45pm on Monday.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the victim Siti Khadijah Sudun, died at the scene of the incident from severe injuries.
While, the motorcyclist, a 35-year-old Azlan Adi, was conscious and suffered a broken leg when taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
“Investigations found that the compact car, driven by a 50-year-old man, was believed to have suffered a puncture and pulled over to the side of the road.
“Shortly, a motorcycle that the couple was riding on headed to Demak Laut is believed to have failed to avoid the man and hit him, and was thrown off their machine from the impact of the collision, resulting in the death of the pillion rider at the location,” said Ahsmon.
He pointed out that the driver of the compact car suffered minor injuries during the incident.
“The body of the victim was sent to the SGH morgue for further action and the case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added. – TVS
