DEBAK, 29 May: Voters in Saribas made the right choice when they voted strongly for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Mohammad Razi Sitam in the December 2021 State Election.
According to Deputy Sarawak Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, following his convincing win, Razi was appointed as the Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development.
“This appointment is a gift from the GPS government to Saribas voters.
“This also means that Saribas can look forward to more development programmes coming its way.
“I, as the nearby Bukit Saban Assemblyman, and Betong Member of Parliament, Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat, will help Razi to ensure this,” he said.
Uggah was speaking at a Hari Raya and Pre-Gawai gathering held at the Riveria Futsal Court here yesterday.
Razi and Chuat were present at the function, as well as a political secretary to Sarawak Premier, Dr Richard Rapu.
In the election, Razi won with a majority of 3,236 votes when he garnered 5,138 votes.
He was challenged by four other candidates, with the nearest opponent Patrick Kamis from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) obtaining 1,902 votes while three others losing their deposits.
With the parliamentary election expected to be held this year, Uggah hoped Saribas voters would continue to support the GPS candidate for the Betong parliamentary seat.
”This will greatly facilitate Saribas’ future development and prosperity,” he said.
He added that the government was in the process of developing the Lubok Tamang Agropark here to educate and guide farmers on the concepts and practices of modern farming.
Toward this end, Uggah called upon the people of Saribas to further strengthen their unity.
At the function, Uggah announced the state government’s landas season financial aid of RM205,500 to local fishermen. – TVS
