KUCHING, May 23: The Belgium Ambassador Pascal H. Gregory paid a courtesy visit to deputy Sarawak Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah at his office on Monday (May 23).
During the visit, Uggah and Pascal discussed the possible collaboration between the Antwerp-Bruges International Port and Kuching Port.
Pascal said the Belgium Port is also collaborating and managing ports in Africa, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.
Additionally, joining him were Senior Director of the Antwerp-Bruges Port International in Belgium, Mario Lievens and Senior Consultant Michiel Dubos.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development (MIPD), Datuk Majang Renggie and MIPD Permanent Secretary, Datu Safri Zainudin.
Meanwhile, Antwerp-Bruges International is Europe’s largest export port and one of the leading container ports in Europe.
Its central location, extensive connections with global markets and large part of the European hinterland combined with an excellent infrastructure make the port an attractive choice for business opportunities.
By 2028, it plans to receive the first green hydrogen molecules on its platform as it also aims to be the energy gateway to Europe as a ‘green port’.
It is working to expand terminal capacity for existing and new hydrogen carriers at both port sites. – TVS
