KUCHING, May 17: Gabungan Parti Sarawak retained Petra Jaya MP Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof to defend his parliamentary seat in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).
The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president is the first GPS’ candidate to be officially announced by its chairman, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, during the PBB Satok Hari Ray Aidilfitri open house on Monday.
Hinting that the election is expected to be called anytime soon.
“Fadillah is locked in to contest in GE15 and we will continue to ensure that Sarawak will contribute to the political stability in the country,” Abang Johari was quoted as saying.
Fadillah, who is also GPS Chief Whip, have won the seats for four terms since his first contest in 2004.
He was elected as Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation after winning his second term in GE12 in 2008 and a full-fledged Works Minister in 2013.
In GE14, Fadillah managed to defend the Petra Jaya seat despite Barisan Nasional (BN)’s lost in the election. – TVS
