BINTULU, April 23 : Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) members in Kakus branch were today told to help win back the Selangau seat in the parliamentary election which can be called for anytime this year.
PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah made the call when officiating at the branch triennial delegates meeting here today.
“I urge all PBB members and members from other component parties to give our fullest support to Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) in winning back the seat.

“Let us set aside any petty differences that we have. Let us be strongly united in this big mission of ours”
The rural iban majority seat was won by Baru Bian from the PKR before ditching it to join a local opposition party, Parti Sarawak Bersatu.
“The people of Selangau are left in the lurch now when they need developments and progress the most because of the mistake they had made.
“Let us help GPS to win back the seat in order to help them,” he said.
On PBB, Uggah reminded members that the future would soon be full of Challenges.
This would be more so with the advancements in technologies especially the Internet connectivity.
He said some people were very obsessed in using it to hit out at the leaders, the government and PBB itself.
“But PBB, since 1974, has grown from strength to strength because of its members unity and discipline,”
He said the “termites” who tried to destroy it would not be able to do it as the party is very strong like the” Tapang” tree.
“It has been and is the backbone of the State governement.
“We must preserve our unity for our government to remain strong.”
Uggah meanwhile commended the Kakus branch for its decision for the Bapa, Wanita and Pemuda top posts to remain uncontested.
He described this as a very wise decision which augured very well for it and the party.
He also was very happy with its resolution for the post of PBB president to be uncontested at the party main triennial delegates meeting in June.
Uggah added Sarawakians are very comfortable with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s leadership.
” The fact that the GPS won 76 of the 82 seats in the last state election is a manifestation of this.
” Through his inclusive policy, he has shown himself to be a Premier for all races in the state.
” He too has shown his mettle by being able to secure additional revenue for the state development expenditure,”
Uggah further added another of Abang Jo’s commendable policy was the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy to chart out greater development, economic growth and prosperity for the state.
” Please know it well to identify the relevant opportunities which you can exploit for your benefits,”
” This strategy deserves our every support and participation.
Joining Uggah at the function were Senator Datuk Dr Nuing Jeluing and political secretaries to Sarawak Premier Dr Richard Rapu and Petrus Igat Mathious. – TVS
