MUKAH, 11 Feb: Two unemployed men were arrested at the entrance of a longhouse at Jalan Selangau-Sibu, Mukah, yesterday (Thursday) for alleged involvement in drug-related activities.
Mukah Police Chief DSP Muhammad Rizal Alias said a team of Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) personnel from the Mukah District Police Headquarters arrested the men, aged 22 and 36 years old, at 2.30 p.m.
“The NCID IPD Mukah, under ‘Ops Tapis’, managed to arrest the two suspects at the entrance of Rumah Dali Ak Merawing longhouse, Further checks by the police on the suspects found a black spectacle case consisting of three translucent plastic packets containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.
Further investigation revealed that both suspects had been involved in drug abuse activities since mid-June 2021.
“The drugs seized weigh about 0.66 grammes with an estimated cost of RM150.
“The case is being investigated under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessions of dangerous drugs,” the statement added. – TVS
