MUARA TUANG , Dec 18: The polling day of 12th Sarawak State Election witnessed an early and busy start by 7.30am here today.
Voters turned up early at the polling centre in high spirits at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kpg Baru to exercise their rights as Sarawakians in choosing the future state government.
As the country is still battling the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, voters have been urged to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set, by practising physical distancing, wearing face masks, using hand sanitisers screening of body temperature and having their details recorded by scanning the MySejahtera Quick Response (QR) codes before entering the polling station.
Meanwhile, an independent candidate, Ismawi Muhammad who is a registered voter at SK Kpg Baru arrived at the centre at around 8:30 AM this morning.
Muara Tuang will witness a six-corner battle involving Dato Idris Buang (GPS), Ismawi Muhammad (BEBAS), Hipni Sulaiman (SEDAR), Daud Eali (AMANAH), Sigandam Sulaiman (PBK) and Yakup Khalid (PSB).
As of 11 AM today, Muara Tuang has seen a 400-voter turnout out of the the 1,796 registered voters here.
There are a total of 21 polling stations at the centre. – TVS
