TEBEDU, 7 Dec : Seasoned statesman Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong has called upon the Bidayuh community in the State to “be united with one heart and one mind”.
He said that only with unity can their voices be heard and the community continue to benefit from government developments.
“If we are divided, our voices will not be heard because we are too small.
“So we need to be united with one heart, one mind,” he told reporters after the submission of nomination papers for GPS candidate, Dr Simon SInang anak Bada, from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), for the N.21 Tebedu constituency at the Tebedu District Office on Monday.
Manyin added, the Bidayuh community has enjoyed great benefits from a stable government, which had provided them with facilities and developed infrastructure in their areas.
“We have eight Bidayuh majority seats, and for the past 30 years, we have been with Barisan Nasional and today with Gabungan Parti Sarawak, and I believe they can see the benefits of being with the government,” Manyin said.
Commenting on his decision to not contesting in the 12th State Election, the caretaker Education, Science and Technological Research Minister said the time has come to give way to a younger candidate.
“As much as I would like to continue my service to the community, my age is no longer in my favour. So I have to pass the baton to a younger candidate,” he said, and thanked the people in Tebedu for supporting him during the past 25 years.
Manyin urged the voters in the Tebedu constituency to give their full support to Dr Simon and GPS. – TVS
