Four-cornered fight for Stakan polls

STAKAN, 6 DECEMBER : GPS Candidate Datuk Hamzah Brahim today submitted his nomination papers to contest for the N17 Stakan seat in 12th Sarawak State Election (PRN-12) at the Tun Abdul Razak Teacher Education Institution, Kota Samarahan today.

Hamzah, dressed in light blue was accompanied by his proposer Daily Joseph and seconder Lela Adini arrived at the nomination centre at 8:36 AM.

Hamzah is expected to be engaged in a four cornered fight against George Young Si Ricord Junior from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), Leslie Ting Xiang Zhi from Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Atet Dego from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK).

Their names were announced by Returning Officer Mohammad Nizam Wang at 10:39am, after the nomination process had closed at 10am.

During the 11th state election, Datuk Amar Mohammad Ali Mahmud, Barisan Nasional candidate won the N.17 Stakan seat, beating his opponent Leslie Ting Xiang Zhi from DAP with a majority of 7,042 votes. – TVS
