KUCHING, 8 Nov : Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is confident with the credibility of its candidates who will be contesting in the upcoming State Election, said Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri.
Nancy, who is also the Women’s Wing Deputy Chief of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), added that GPS would not be naming any candidate unless he or she is the best and most winnable.
“GPS will not be experiencing any problem, no matter if the incumbents are retained or new faces will be contesting.
“Our election machinery is ready, as preparations have been done even before the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) was dissolved,” Nancy said during a press conference after the launching ceremony of the Bicara Sejarah Sarawak program.
She explained further that GPS has always been in touch with the people on the ground, whether physically or through aids that had been channelled.
“I can’t speak for other parties, but GPS has been with the people through and through. Even with the restrictions due to the pandemic, we still fulfill our duty to the people.
“We don’t do this just for the sake of political mileage, it is to render service consistently,” said Nancy.
In the event that GPS names a fresh candidate to replace an incumbent, she said GPS had always been ready for such possibility. – TVS
