France, October 29: The Paris chocolate exhibition was given a fashion show kick-off where models were decked in garments decorated with glimmering chocolate jewels.
Themed ‘Renaissance’, this will be the 26th edition of the chocolate trade show, and its first time being held since the pandemic hit.
Few highlights were a translucent dress with strategically-placed chocolate embroidery and a Picasso-inspired outfit.
Lea Fransois, who designed the latter garment with her chocolate maker said the idea was inspired by Picasso’s painting ‘Guernica’.
“This is the only dress in the trade show made entirely out of chocolate and it weighs 12 kilogramme.
“We worked so hard to put the dress together. You will find plenty of images and symbols hidden in the dress related to Picasso’s Guernica painting,” said the chocolate lover who had been holding herself back from eating her own dress.
Thousands of visitors flocked the Parc des Expositions in Paris to peruse the stands of the 280 exhibitors present annually.
Visitors will find chocolatiers, patissiers, cocoa producing countries and other artisans from all over the world.
This year’s trade show will run from October 28 to November 1.
