PADAWAN, October 25: Three men were detained today believed to be involved in a riot that injured six individuals at Kampung Peraya, here.
The incident took place at 6.00pm on October 24, involving 20 rioters armed with dangerous weapons such as samurai sword, hockey stick to even shotguns.
17 of them are still at large.
Two of the suspects were detained in Siburan while another one was arrested at 13th Mile Jalan Kuching-Serian.
Padawan District Police Chief, Superintendent Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad in a statement said all six victims were doing repair works at a workshop.
One of the victim, a 32-year old man was struck in the arm with a machete, partially severing his right arm, while another victim, a 26-year old man suffered minor injuries.
The remainder of the victims successfully fled the scene.
Suspects have also damaged personally owned-vehicles in the workshop and stole a mobile phone belonging to the victim in the process.
The case will be investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
