Covid-19: Youth among 20 fatalities reported

KUCHING, Oct 4: A 28 years-old man who had no medical history was brought-in-dead (BID) was among the 20 COVID-19 related deaths reported in Sarawak today.

The related cases were backlog traced from June 15 to October 3.

The youth was attended at the Sarawak General Hospital on Sept 15.

A 83 year-old elderly who had high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia, heart disease and Chronic kidney disease, had a history with the virus on June 15.

While, in September two patients with underlying illnesses aged 66 and 76 were admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital on September 4 and 28 respectively, before succumbed to the virus.

On Oct 1, four deaths involving three men and one woman, all from Sibu, were reported.

The 79-year-old woman, who had cancer, passed away in Kanowit Hospital.

The other three fatalities were a 27-year-old man with no history of identified illnesses; a 41-year-old man who had high blood pressure, diabetes and tuberculosis; and a 77-year-old man who had high blood pressure. All three passed away at Sibu Hospital.

On October 2, 10 fatalities involving four men and six women aged between 57 and 84 were recorded.

Five of the fatalities were from Kuching and all passed away at SGH — a 73-year-old man with no history of identified illnesses; an 84-year-old man who had high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidemia; an 83-year-old woman who had high blood pressure; a 57-year-old woman who had high blood pressure and diabetes; and a 63-year-old woman who had high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidemia.

Three of the fatalities were from Sibu and passed away at Sibu Hospital — a 71-year-old man who had high blood pressure and was a person with disabilities (PwD); a 72-year-old woman who required assistance with daily activities; and another 72-year-old woman who had high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia and chronic kidney disease.

A 63-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both from Kapit, passed away at Kapit Hospital.

The man had diabetes and high blood pressure while the woman had high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia and chronic kidney disease.

A 55-year-old man from Kapit who had high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease passed away at Kapit Hospital on October 3.
