KUCHING, October 1 – Sarawak civil servants have been urged to be prudent and get vaccinated in order to battle the infectious Covid-19 virus.
Although the Sarawak government has not made Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for state civil servants,it is highly advisable.
State Assemblymen, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman was in response to a statement made following an announcement by Public Service Department (PSD) which made the Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for federal public officers.
In which Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg responded by making it clear on Thursday (Sept 30) that it is not compulsory for Sarawak civil servants to do so.
Fazzrudin reiterated that although getting inoculated is not mandatory in the state, it is however crucial as getting vaccinated proves to be instrumental in reducing the severity of the Covid-19 cases in the state, where 99 per cent of the daily Covid-19 cases are in Category 1 and Category 2.
He also reminded that the public plays an important role in an effort to beat the infectious virus.
Fazzrudin emphasized that the government will continue to educate the public on the importance of the Covid-19 vaccination.
