KUCHING, Sept 21: Sarawak plans to vaccinate teenagers here aged between 12 and 15 years with no health issues, beginning this September 23.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee Chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said today this was following the announcement on the matter by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday .
“He (Khairy) had said teenagers aged 12 to 17 would be able to walk in for their Covid-19 vaccination at selected PPVs nationwide.
“Khairy had also said the Health Ministry would announce the list of selected PPVs today.”
Some 2.3 million teenagers are expected to be involved in this National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Adolescents. It is done in preparation to open schools on October 3 and to ensure the risk of infection in schools are reduced.
It is also to prevent clusters and cases amongst school children. Uggah advised parents and guardians to make full use of the opportunity to protect their children or those under their charge.
“In Sarawak, the respective divisional health offices will select the PPVs for the purpose. Please accompany your children for the vaccination as there will be the consent forms that you, as a parent and guardian, will have to fill in,” he said.
Meanwhile he also said the state had just received its consignment of 10,000 doses of the single dose CanSino vaccine.
They will be sent to the CFLN ( Cawangan Farmasi Logistik Negeri Sarawak) Sarawak here, PFB ( Pusat Farmasi Bahagian) Sri Aman, KK( Klinik Kesihatan) Mid Layar, PFB Sarikei, Sarikei Hospital, Sibu Hospital, PFB Sibu, PFB Kapit, KK Kapit and KK Song today and tomorrow.
