Man accused of construction fraud claims trial

KUCHING, SEPTEMBER 20: A 49-year-old man was charged with three construction fraud charges framed under section 420 of the penal court at the Magistrate Court earlier today.

The accused, identified as Ho Wee Khiang, pleaded not guilty for all three charges before Magistrate Zaiton Annuar.

He was granted bail amounting to RM7,500 but have failed to pay them.

According to the case facts, the accused pitched for renovation works to his victims in December last year.

Once payment we made via online, none of the construction works took place, which caused a total loss of RM97,000.

Currently he is remanded in the Puncak Borneo Prison.

If found guilty, the accused will be convicted under section 420 of the penal code which carries a jail time of not less than one year and not more than 10 years, a whip and a fine.

His pre-trial case management (PTCM) is set on October 21. – TVS
