The Tupong assemblyman has called on SDMC to clarify on whether the current COVID-19 strategy is in the mitigation or containment phase.
Therefore, during the session, he was told by the committee that they are planning to move towards mitigation phase in the coming months.
“The focus now is expediting the vaccination to teenagers aged below 18.
“Regardless, I urge the people to continue to play their roles and do their parts in ensuring the number of Covid-19 cases can be brought down to a manageable level for the safety of all, “ he said in a statement today (Sept 8).
He also urged all parties to cooperate with the authorities and give them the necessary leeway to implement the anti-pandemic strategies for the state to recover from this trying times.
All State Assemblymen including the opposition representative were in attendance.
“The session too, was attended by opposition representatives which is a reflection of the state government’s bipartisan approach to tackling Covid-19.
“As well as a ‘whole of society’ approach in overcoming the current crisis. With the briefing being done to all the elected representatives, it will help to better explain the government’s approach to Covid-19 to the people on the ground,” he said.
