Kuching: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) President Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh should not leverage on the Baleh logjam issue to gain political mileage, says Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing.
Masing, who described Wong’s action as being misleading, said the latter should first provide facts and figures before making any claim.
Explaining that the Hydroelectric Power (HEP) generation as being far more advantageous over fossil fuels as “clearly illustrated by facts and figures published by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB)”, Masing also challenged Wong to do his research before speaking.

This was his response to Wong’s statement on the Baleh logjam.
Masing, who is also the State Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, has also described Wong as being hypercritical of Sarawak in generating HEP.
“Saying it just for political mileage with very little reference is misleading. HEP produces clean and sustainable energy, while fossil fuels are highly polluting, and have a limited timeframe. They are also finite resources of this world,” said Masing in a statement today.
Previously, Wong had insisted that Masing be held accountable for the massive logjam in the vicinity of the Baleh HEP dam.
He was reported as saying that wood debris produced by the construction of the Baleh Dam, especially in terms of salvage logging, had resulted in the logjam, consequently affecting the lives of people in the surrounding areas, such as along Batang Baleh in Kapit and Batang Rajang.
