KUALA LUMPUR: The 13th World Halal Business Conference 2021 (WHBC 2021), organised by Halal Development Corporation Bhd (HDC) and hosted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), will be held fully on virtual platforms this year.
The soft launch and webinar for the event was held on 27 August 2021, and the official event will commence on 9 September 2021 (Thursday) via WHBC 2021 Zoom Meeting.
According to a press statement released by HDC, it will focus on avenues to discuss and resolve issues relevant to the Halal industry as well as act as a catalyst for technological breakthroughs and innovation that will result in economic growth and wealth creation.
Touted as a meeting of minds comprising local and international industry representatives keen on accelerating the pace of Halal development, the conference will gather government representatives, business leaders, scholars and academics, as well as community leaders with opportunities for business networkng and communication at various levels.
Six topics will be presented, including in a discussion panel on the topic of making Halal Media mainstream, which will see the participation of Mizz Nina, a popular Malaysian fashion designer, motivational speaker, television personality, humanitarian and the co-founder of Dopstv, an Islamic Lifestyle Channel.
She will be joined by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AlHijrah Media Corporation, Namanzee Harris, and the CEO and founder of Alchemiya.com, that provides movies, dramas and documentaries about the Muslim world, Navid Akhtar, from the United Kingdom.
The speakers involved will also talk on the resiliency of the Halal industry in the global economy in light of COVID-19, the proposition of Halal as a value for Industry 4WRD 4.0, halal ingredients for a sustainable halal food system in the future in collaboration with CIMB Islamic and AUSTRADE, and a robust Islamic financial ecosystem through digitalisation.
A Captains of Industry panel, comprising the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDHC) Group, Datuk Dr Jacob Thomas, the Chief Operating Officer of Amal Represent Malaysia Aviation Group, Najmi Mansor, and the Principles Scientist of Origin Pharma Packaging, from Melton, Hull, United Kingdom, Dr Mah Hussain-Gambles, will discuss on the creation of demand for Halal emerging sectors.
