Samarahan: A total of RM9 million has been allocated by the State Government for the Landas Season Relief Aid.
Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, said this will benefit some 10,000 fishermen, who will received monthly allowances of RM300 each.
“The aid is allocated for January to March of 2020,” said Uggah after inspecting the ongoing construction works on the State Farmers’ Organisation new headquarters building here today.
Similar aid was also distributed this year, from January to March and from November to December, totalling RM15 million.
This aid is a special assistance from the State Government to assist fishermen who usually cannot ply their trade during the landas season during those periods.
Regarding the new Farmers’ Organisation headquarters, Uggah said its construction was 5.57 per cent ahead of schedule.
The Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development (MANRED) also said the construction began on 24 September last year, and is expected to be completed by 24 May next year.
The building costs RM20 million and is being built on a 1.214 hectare site.
Also present during the inspection were Assistant Minister of Agriculture Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, MANRED Permanent Secretary Edwin Abit, and the State Agriculture Department Director, Dr Alvin Chai.
