BAU, August 18 — A SALCRA clerk was killed in a head-on collision between a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle and a compact car in Bau yesterday.
The collision also left several others severely injured.
The 40-year-old deceased, who hailed from Kampung Bijuray Moggang, Krokong was a passenger in the compact car, driven by a 55 year old woman, suffered fractures to his ribs and legs.
The 4WD driver, a 19 year old male sustained injuries to his right leg, while his two male passengers fractured their right shoulder and sustained forehead and arm injuries respectively.
Bau District Police Chief, DSP Poge Nyaon said during the 6pm incident believed to have occurred when the 4WD driver lost control of the vehicle after making a turn at mile 7 of Jalan Bau/Krokong, causing him to swerve into the opposing lane and collided onto an oncoming compact car .
The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene and the victims were brought to Bau Hospital for treatment.
The roads conditions at the time of the incident was dark and wet due to heavy rain.
The case will be investigated under section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
