KUCHING, JULY 30： Plans are in the pipeline between Sarawak and Australia develop a large-scale green hydrogen project in the state.
Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan today met with an Australian conglomerate to discuss the potential the develop the project here. Sarawak,possesses many comparative advantages to support the development of such green hydrogen industry, including its huge river resources that generate hydropower.
“Sarawak welcomes such investment as it is capable of creating many economic and social benefits to Sarawak,” he said in a statement here today.
Awang Tengah is also Sarawak’s International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Minister as well as Second Minister for Urban Development and Natural Resources added that Development of green hydrogen as an environmentally sustainable industry is in line with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 focusing on strategic sectors to spur Sarawak towards a high income economy by 2030,
The virtual meeting was also attended by Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Assistant SME and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, among others.
