S’wak to receive CanSino vaccine mid-July

ByDouglas Elliot

SPAOH, JUNE 23 — Sarawak is set to receive the supply for the single dose CanSino vaccine starting next month.

According to Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, the state is expected to receive 650,000 doses of vaccines due to arrive mid-July.

“The Cansino is very much suitable for our people living deep in the interiors like the Penans,” he said after visiting the Covid-19 vaccination centre at the Spaoh Community Hall today.

“Our medical teams will only need to visit them once to vaccinate them, thus cutting down on logistics, transportation and other costs,” he added.

Earlier, the CanSino vaccine was given conditional approval for emergency use in Malaysia by the Drug Control Authority on June 15, along with the other single shot vaccine made by Johnson & Johnson.

Malaysia is set to receive 3.6 million doses of China CanSino Biologics Inc vaccine next month.
