No Need For 14-Day Quarantine for Workers After Covid-19 Vaccination

KUCHING, APRIL 20- There is no need for employers to get their workers quarantined for two weeks after they receive their Covid-19 vaccination.

State Health Department Director Dr Chin Zin Hing said this while stressing that workers must continue to wear face masks, maintain physical distancing, practice hand sanitizing while abiding by all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Dr Chin added that should a worker feel unwell after vaccination, he or she should head to the nearest clinic or hospital.

Asked on the risk of exposure at vaccination centres, Dr Chin said precautionary measures are important regardless of the location.

“The risk is low if a person wears mask, maintains physical distancing and practice hand sanitizing at the vaccination centre.

“Even after vaccination, the public need to take care as long as the virus still exists,” he said when contacted by TVS today.

The second phase of the state-level National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme started in Sibu yesterday to be followed by Kuching, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Kapit, Mukah and Miri on April 23.

The second phase of vaccination will commence for  Samarahan, Bintulu and Limbang on April 24 and Sarikei on April 30.
